Workshop and lunch: Composting Plastics
Workshop and lunch: Composting Plastics with Kristina Lindström and Åsa Ståhl
In connection with the HYBRID MATTERs exhibition, Åsa Ståhl and Kristina Lindström will arrange a workshop called Composting Plastics. The workshop draws on a recent finding by Yang et al 2015 that shows that common mealworms can biodegrade a specific kind of plastics, styrofoam. During the workshop participants are invited to make their own domestic plastic composting kit by repurposing a glass jar, which they can bring home. While the worms munch away on styrofoam, the human participants will be served vegetarian lunch.
During the workshop the hosts, Kristina Lindström and Åsa Ståhl, will introduce the work that they have done with prototyping how to live with the hybrid matter of styrofoam, common mealworms and repurposed glass jars. They will also invite for conversation around the different kinds of work and care that goes into this multispecies labour force. The workshop is set in Lindström’s and Ståhl’s work Plastic Imaginaries that is part of the HYBRID MATTERs exhibition.
Time: Saturday 26 November 11 am - 13 pm.
Location: Forum Box, Ruoholahdenranta 3a, 00180 Helsinki
